MPSD Has Several Fireworks Related Calls Over Weekend

On Friday, July 4th, 2025 the Mexico Public Safety Department responded to two fires due fireworks. The first was a grass fire in the 300 block of Bolivar at 3:30PM. The second was a tree fire in RS Green Park at 11:28PM. Both fires were extinguished before any personal property was damaged.

On Saturday, July 5th, MPSD responded to the 500 block of South Olive in reference to a vehicle being damaged by juveniles shooting fireworks during the previous overnight hours. The damage was minimal.

MPSD responded about 90 incidents of fireworks being discharged over the two-week period leading up to and including the 4th of July weekend. Around half of those occurred in about a four-hour time period on the 4th. There were significantly fewer fireworks discharged at the public events than in years past.

MPSD detained three juveniles for fireworks just outside one of the events.

There were no firework related injuries reported to emergency services.
