Team effort rescues stranded fisherman at Lake of the Ozarks

Crews from several mid-Missouri agencies worked together Tuesday evening to find an elderly fisherman on the Gravois arm of the Lake of the Ozarks.

The Gravois Fire Protection District says the man’s boat had mechanical problems, leaving him stranded along the shoreline.

Nearby homeowners helped him reach his family while search crews were still looking.

Firefighters launched rescue boats, used a thermal drone, and received air support from a Highway Patrol helicopter.

The fisherman was located around 7:45 p.m. and was unhurt.

Agencies from Gravois, Rocky Mount, Lake Ozark, and Sunrise Beach all assisted in the search.
