Traffic stop leads to sizeable drug bust on I-70

A traffic stop on I-70 Wednesday night in Montgomery County turned into a sizeable drug bust.

At 8:38pm, a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop at the 177 mile-marker on a van that had its temporary tags flipping up and license plate lights not properly illuminating the plate.

The passenger in the front seat was Christopher David Lee, of St. Louis, and Lee had marijuana scattered across himself.

The driver gave the deputy consent to search his vehicle. During the search, the deputy found a clear plastic baggy with blue pills imprinted with bunnies, a plastic baggy that contained green pills imprinted as money bags and a clear glass jar containing psilocybin mushrooms and a clear glass tube with an unknown white substance.

Also located inside the vehicle were a Springfield XD .40 caliber handgun and an AR-15 rifle.

The blue pills tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl, and weighed 41.46 grams. The green pills tested positive for fentanyl and weighed 37.15 grams. The psilocybin mushrooms weighed 8.01 grams.

Lee was booked into Montgomery County Jail and is being held without bond, formally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Two counts of Armed Criminal Action, Two counts of Second Degree Trafficking Drugs, and Two Counts of Unlawful Use of Weapon
