Mid-Missouri Shelters Mobilize as Frigid Weather Sets In
Homeless shelters across mid-Missouri are gearing up for dangerously cold winter weather.
The Salvation Army’s Harbor House in Columbia says the shelter is stocked with coats, jackets, and scarves, but still needs donations especially boots, gloves, and coffee.
Another Columbia shelter, Room at the Inn COMO, says it will stay open all weekend for those seeking warmth and overnight shelter.
Wilkes Boulevard United Methodist Church will host an overnight warming center from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 23 through Jan. 25. The overnight warming center serves as a refuge of last resort. As capacity allows, persons who are eligible for overnight shelter at Room at the Inn and/or Salvation Army Harbor House will be directed to those resources.
The Room at the Inn overnight warming center at Central Christian Church located at 300 East Coates Street in Moberly is available all weekend.
and the Audrain Shelter Resource Coalition has Announced the Room at the Inn, Mexico will be open 24 hours a day from 7am today through 7am Tuesday, January 27th.
