A new lawsuit filed today aims to stop construction of a massive data center in Montgomery County.
Preserve Montgomery County, LLC filed the suit in Cole County Circuit Court, claiming county officials broke Missouri’s Sunshine Law by holding closeddoor meetings and signing nondisclosure agreements tied to the project.
The $35 billion development would get about $245 million in tax breaks, which some locals say unfairly benefits a trilliondollar company while shortchanging area schools.
Others worry the facility could strain groundwater resources.
The lawsuit asks the court to void all county approvals and force the state’s economic development department to revoke a $5 million grant for the site.
