Grand Jury Indicts New Franklin Man in Boonville Shooting, Carjacking

A Cooper County grand jury indicted a New Franklin man after a shots fired incident at a downtown Boonville intersection on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, according to court documents.

Boonville officers took Carl A. Landrum III into custody shortly after responding to reports of gunfire near Main Street and Morgan Street around 6:15 p.m. that evening.

Landrum is charged with first-degree robbery, vehicle hijacking, three counts of armed criminal action, first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Officers said two people were involved in an altercation inside a vehicle stopped in traffic when the driver fled. The passenger, later identified as Landrum, allegedly fired a gun from inside the vehicle before driving away in it, police said.

Investigators said the stolen vehicle was located a few miles away near New Franklin, and Landrum was found nearby and taken into custody, according to a probable cause statement.
