Columbia Man Charged in Federal Firearm Possession Case
A Columbia man has been charged in federal court with illegal possession of a firearm.
38-year-old Dorian Gardner, already barred from owning guns due to prior felony convictions, faces the new charge from the U.S. Department of Justice.
The federal indictment follows Gardner’s November arrest on state charges including first-degree domestic assault, endangering the welfare of a child, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was on probation and parole for prior Boone County offenses, including stealing, burglary, tampering with a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest.
Gardner pleaded not guilty at an January arraignment, and a case review is set for 9 a.m. Monday. No additional court dates have been announced. The incident reportedly involved gunfire at Gardner’s pregnant girlfriend in November.
