Second Suspect Arrested in Columbia Fatal Shooting

Columbia police have arrested a second suspect in Wednesday’s deadly shooting of 20-year-old William Riechers.

Prosecutors charged 24-year-old Landen Jackson of Columbia with second-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and armed criminal action.

Investigators say Jackson drove a white SUV when shots were fired near Bryant and Allen Streets.

Nineteen-year-old Damarius Kavanaugh, also from Columbia, was arrested earlier and admitted to firing at the vehicle with a 9mm handgun.

Police recovered shell casings from both 9mm and .40 caliber weapons at the scene and found several handguns during a search linked to Jackson.

Both men are convicted felons and remain held without bond in the Boone County Jail.
