Harris withdraws guilty plea, seeks new hearing

A new hearing set for today in Boone County Court, after sentencing was cancelled for a Columbia man tied to a downtown shooting from 2025.
Forty-six-year-old Steven Harris was expected to be sentenced this week after he pled guilty in January, but he sent a letter to Judge Stephanie Morrell saying he planned to withdraw his guilty plea.
Harris was arrested after a shots-fired incident in downtown Columbia and faced charges including stealing, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action.
