Boone County to Weigh Zoning Changes for More Affordable Housing

The Boone County Commission is set to meet Tuesday evening to consider updates to the county’s zoning and subdivision regulations aimed at improving housing affordability.
The proposed changes already approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission would make it easier to build duplexes on corner lots, add in-law suites or backyard cottages, and allow housing above commercial spaces.
They’d also create a new zoning category for smaller cottage lots and streamline some permitting processes.
Residents can share their views during a public hearing at Tuesday’s meeting
