Columbia Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Apartment Break-Ins

A Columbia man will spend the next ten years in prison for a string of break-ins targeting women’s apartments between 2020 and 2024.
Thirty-five-year-old Guillermo Vasquez Hernandez received the maximum sentence Monday from a Boone County judge after pleading guilty to two counts of burglary and two counts of forgery.
Hernandez was arrested in 2024 following a series of high-profile prowler cases near student housing in south Columbia.
At sentencing, one victim described the lasting fear she now lives with, while Hernandez tearfully apologized, saying he regretted his actions.
After his prison term, he will face deportation proceedings
