Boone Health, Missouri Heart Center Split Could Affect 20,000 Patients

More than 20,000 patients could see changes to their heart care after Boone Health and Missouri Heart Center ended their partnership amid a contract dispute.

Boone Health’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Lana Zerrer, says the hospital is preparing to build its own cardiology team after the current contract expires May 6.

Patients are being advised to refill prescriptions and request records ahead of that date.

Boone Health has filed a lawsuit on Friday accusing Missouri Heart Center of violating a non-compete clause by planning to open a new clinic in Columbia.

Meanwhile, Missouri Heart Center says Boone refused to negotiate and that its priority remains ensuring patients continue to have access to high-quality heart care.
