More details coming to light about what precipitated 19-year-old Andy J. Cenobio to run over three people early Sunday morning in Columbia.
The victims had tried to break up a fight in the parking lot of El Poblano Grill and Cantina on Old Highway 63. Cenobio and two others who had reportedly been verbally abusive inside the cantina earlier, were in a fight with another man, and when the victims tried to stop Cenobio’s group from assaulting the unknown person, the three men started to fight them.
Witnesses said Cenobio and the other two suspects then got into a white 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and purposefully turned around and hit three of the victims, with a fourth person able to jump out of the way. The three were taken to Boone Hospital for treatment. One of the victims had a brain bleed, and two others had broken ankles.
Cenobio, of Columbia, was caught by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Osage County.
Prosecutors charged Cenobio today with three counts of First Degree Assault, one count of Attempted First Degree Assault, and four counts of Armed Criminal Action.
He’s being held in the Boone County Jail on a no-bond warrant.
