Myers’ appoints Cowherd to fill open Fulton Council seat

Fulton Mayor Steve Myers has appointed Jacque Cowherd to fill the Ward 4 vacancy on the Fulton City Council. The opening came quickly, after councilwoman Lauren Nelson resigned her position on the council because she was moving out of Ward 4. She resigned effective April 9.

Cowherd served as superintendent of the Fulton School District for 11 years before retiring in 2020. Since then, he has worked as an executive coach with the Missouri Association of School Administrators, and has also recently served on the city’s Public Utility Board.

City Council vacancies are filled through mayoral appointment, but do require approval by a majority of the remaining council members and appointees serve until the next regular election.
