That two-vehicle accident that shut down Highway 54 in Callaway County on Wednesday, turned out to be fatal.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 2008 Ford Fusion collided with a southbound semi grain truck at County Road 2002 around 11:55 a.m. The car overturned, and the truck’s trailer spilled a load of grain across the highway.
The driver of the Ford, a 91-year-old man from Fulton, was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after 1 p.m.
His passenger, a 67-year-old man from Auxvasse, was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
