Boone County Judge Josh Devine has delayed the animal abuse trial of Melissa Sanders after granting the defense’s request to continue the case.
Sanders had been set for a four-day jury trial starting April 28, but the court denied her motion to dismiss, accepted a new substitute information filed by prosecutors, and recorded her not guilty plea.
The judge also noted Sanders waived her speedy-trial right, pushing the next trial setting to October at the earliest.
A bond hearing and status conference are now set for May 1st at 1 p.m.
