The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 last night, after a dramatic ninth-inning rally.
The Cardinals were nearly no-hit through 6 2/3 innings and trailed 2-0 entering the ninth before scoring four runs to stun the host Pirates.
Pedro Pagés and rookie JJ Wetherholt hit back-to-back home runs to tie the game at 2-2. José Fermín then delivered a tiebreaking two-run double to seal the victory.
