Severe storms tore through mid-Missouri Monday morning, prompting a state of emergency in Glasgow and widespread damage across multiple communities.
Glasgow Mayor Donald Clear issued the 72-hour emergency as crews respond to downed power lines, damaged buildings and a compromised water tower, with outages expected to last several days.
Residents are urged to conserve water and avoid marked hazards, while bottled water is available at City Hall.
Officials also reported flooding in Boone County and road closures in several counties, while some schools and organizations canceled classes or switched to remote learning because of the outages
In Middle Grove, a tree crashed into the local K-8 school, leaving holes in the roof, while nearby structures also lost roofing.
No injuries were reported.
And in Saline County, heavy damage along Highway 240 left Slater without power, canceled classes, and snapped dozens of utility poles as residents work together to clear debris.
