The National Weather Service confirms an EF-2 tornado touched down in Mid-Missouri Monday morning, packing winds up to 115 miles per hour.
The storm tracked more than 36 miles and reached about 350 yards wide at its peak.
It first hit west of Slater in Saline County just before 7 a.m., and lifted south of Higbee in Howard County about 35 minutes later.
Officials say the tornado snapped trees, damaging homes and vehicles, and also destroyed grain bins, barns, and power poles along its path. Saline County emergency management assisted with the damage survey.
