Suspect Steals Deputy’s Vehicle While Handcuffed

A Moberly woman is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say she stole a Randolph County Sheriff’s patrol car while in custody.

Authorities say 20-year-old Alayna Mason was handcuffed in the passenger seat during an investigation Thursday when she allegedly took off in the marked vehicle, which contained several firearms.

Deputies later found Mason hiding in a home, still wearing damaged handcuffs, where she reportedly admitted to the theft.

She’s now held without bond in the Randolph County Jail, with a court appearance set for Monday afternoon.
