Jefferson City firefighters responded to a house fire just before 7 Tuesday night on Scarborough Way.
Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a single-family home, with the fire already spreading into the attic.
Firefighters quickly made entry and brought the blaze under control, but the home suffered moderate fire and heavy smoke damage.
Two dogs were safely rescued and are not believed to be injured.
The cause is under investigation, but officials say it likely started on the back deck.
Multiple fire and EMS agencies assisted at the scene.
