Missouri standout running back Ahmad Hardy is recovering after a weekend shooting in Mississippi.
A Mizzou Athletics spokesperson says the reigning SEC rushing leader was released from the hospital Tuesday and returned to Columbia.
ESPN reports Hardy still plans to play in 2026.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. Sunday in Laurel, where police say Hardy was attending a concert at a biker club when gunfire broke out. Hardy and another person were hit. He underwent surgery Monday.
Police say multiple shell casings were found at the scene. No suspects have been named, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Missouri opens the upcoming season on Thursday, Sept. 3, against Arkansas Pine-Bluff.
