Travelers in mid-Missouri will soon have another direct flight option to Florida.
Allegiant Air announced Tuesday it will begin nonstop service from Columbia Regional Airport to St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport on Nov. 19.
The new route marks Allegiant’s third Florida destination from Columbia, joining upcoming flights to Destin-Fort Walton Beach and Orlando Sanford beginning in June.
The Columbia City Council approved a two-year air services agreement with Allegiant Monday night.
Airport officials say the partnership is expected to generate about $800,000 in revenue for the city and could eventually expand to additional destinations across the country.
