A Columbia man is behind bars after investigators say he dumped a woman’s body in a trash bin found floating in Perche Creek.
Boone County deputies say boaters discovered the bin Sunday near Providence Landing after noticing a strong odor of decomposition.
Investigators identified 53-year-old Andrew Acton using surveillance footage and Flock camera images tracking a red Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck seen carrying the bin.
Authorities say city trash cart serial numbers also helped trace the evidence.
Acton was arrested Monday night and now faces felony charges of abandonment of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
He’s being held without bond in the Boone County Jail.
