Residents in Eldon are under a mandatory boil water order after testing found elevated levels of E. coli in the city’s drinking water.
According to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, follow-up testing after a routine water sample revealed multiple positive coliform samples, including at least one positive for E. coli.
City leaders have scheduled an emergency Board of Aldermen meeting for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Public Works Building to discuss the situation and next steps.
Officials advise residents to boil all drinking and cooking water before use.
The boil order does not affect recreational water facilities, and both the Eldon Splash Pad and Aquatic Center remain open.
