The US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri has said that they have begun searching for former patients of a doctor accused of multiple crimes earlier this year.
46-year-old Doctor Jonathan Wayne Morris was indicted in April on 15 counts of illegal prescribing of controlled substances and 23 counts of health care fraud.
Morris reportedly prescribed drugs with no legitimate purpose, including prescriptions to people with substance abuse disorders, as well as to people he was having sexual relations with.
Documents allege that he issued about 15,000 doses to around 20 people.
The former Columbia Urgent Care Owner allegedly incorrectly billed Medicare and Medicaid, and that he billed for services by assistant physicians that were not sufficiently trained or supervised.
Last week, Judge Stephen Welby issued an order to allow the government to use victim notification procedures to notify people of their rights.
Those people can email the Victim-Witness Unit at USAMOE.Victims@usdoj.gov.
