Man Charged In Relation To Suspicious Package In Holts Summit

A Chicago man has been charged in relation to a suspicious package in Holts Summit on Friday.

Forty five year old Jerry Lee Banks, also known as Jihad L. Muhammad, is accused of driving a stolen vehicle across state lines, according to a criminal complaint from the FBI.

Banks was pulled over on Highway 54 in Callaway County for careless and imprudent driving.

Subsequent investigation revealed methamphetamine residue, suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia.

Additionally, officers found electronic components, circuit boards, wire and chemicals, along with “various incoherent writings pertaining to chemicals that included mention of an explosion.”

The Missouri State Highway Patrol bomb squad was called to perform a controlled detonation of a package.
