A registered sex offender is being held without bond in Callaway County after being charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault involving a juvenile.
The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office says investigators received a report on June 1 and identified 63-year-old James Courtney as the suspect.
Deputies located Courtney on June 4 and took him into custody following an interview with investigators.
Prosecutors have charged Courtney with first-degree statutory sodomy, which is classified as an aggravated sexual offense.
He remains in the Callaway County Jail on a court-ordered no-bond hold as the investigation continues.
