Columbia Man to Face New Judge in Murder Case

A Columbia man accused of murder in a 2024 shooting has received a new judge for his status hearing today.

Jordan Brantley is accused of second degree murder, assault and armed criminal action in the shooting death of Travon Ashcraft two years ago.

The defense made a motion to disqualify Judge Jeff Harris because he is also dealing with a case pertaining to Brantley’s mother.

Although the court denied the case, Harris stepped down from the case saying that he didn’t want the appearance of any bias in the situation. Judge Brouck Jacobs is taking over the case.

Brantley’s court appearance is set for 1:30 p.m. today.
