A five-car crash blocked westbound I-70 last night in Columbia which sent two people to hospital with injuries.
The accident occurred near the 121-mile marker at around 9:30 p.m., according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash reportedly started when a semi truck failed to slow down in traffic and struck the back of a Toyota driven by a 32-year-old Cape Girardeau man, causing multiple other cars to be involved, including a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 50-year-old Columbia man.
The semi, the Toyota, and the Chevy all ended up in a ditch, while the other cars that were involved came to safe stops on the shoulder.
The Toyota and Chevy drivers were taken to University Hospital by ambulance with moderate injuries, while no one else was injured.
