Columbia man accepts plea deal in deadly shooting


A 36-year-old Columbia man has accepted a plea deal in connection to a fatal December 2020 shooting in the drive-thru of a Columbia McDonald’s.

According to court documents, Correy Greene pleaded guilty to two weapon offenses: unlawful transfer of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to court documents. He was sentenced to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for the unlawful transfer of a weapon charge and 10 years for the unlawful possession of a firearm charge.

Greene, a convicted felon, was initially charged with second-degree felony murder in the death of 25-year-old Marqukis Hayes.

Greene was driving while Angelica Benitez shot and killed the Columbia man with a gun bought by Greene.
