Jefferson City Inmate Dies After 36 Years in Prison

An inmate who spent more than three decades at the Jefferson City Correctional Center has died.

The Missouri Department of Corrections says 74-year-old Gary Jackman was pronounced dead Monday night at Capital Region Medical Center from apparent natural causes.

Jackman had been incarcerated since October 1990 and was serving a life sentence for convictions including first-degree robbery, multiple counts of forcible rape, and sodomy in Clay and Jackson counties.

He had been housed at the Jefferson City facility for 36 years.
