The Kansas City Royals beat the Washington Nationals 6–2 last night, avoiding a three-game sweep in Washington.
Carter Jensen led off the game with a home run and finished 4-for-4 with a double, a walk, and an RBI.
John Rave, Lane Thomas, and Michael Massey also homered as Kansas City launched four solo home runs in the first three innings.
The Royals built a 4–0 lead by the third inning and extended it to 6–0 in the sixth
Luinder Avila bounced back from a rough previous start, throwing 5⅔ innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk.
Washington finally scored in the sixth on an RBI double by CJ Abrams and an RBI single by Dylan Crews, but the Nationals couldn’t get any closer.

The St. Louis Cardinals fell to the San Diego Padres 6–1 last night, missing a chance to complete a three-game sweep.
St. Louis managed just six hits and one run, with its only run coming on an RBI single by Alec Burleson.
The Cardinals struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities and hit into multiple rally-killing double plays.
After scoring only two runs in the first two games of the series, San Diego erupted for 14 hits. Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jackson Merrill each collected three hits and drove in two runs, accounting for most of the damage. Merrill added a two-run homer in the ninth inning that put the game out of reach.
