The Kansas City Royals dismantled the Tampa Bay Rays 12-5 last night at Tropicana Field, powered by a spectacular offensive showing and an absolute masterclass from rookie Jac Caglianone.
Caglianone, who went 3-for-5 with two towering home runs and three RBIs in his return to Tampa.
Nick Loftin also had a huge game, going 4-for-5 with a homer and scoring four times as the Royals piled up offense early and often.
On the mound, Luinder Avila delivered five solid innings to earn the win, while Shane McClanahan took the loss after allowing six runs (four unearned) over six innings.
Kansas City broke the game open with a five-run eighth inning and now leads the series 2–0.

The St. Louis Cardinals fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3 last night at Busch Stadium.

defined by a pitchers’ duel for most of the night.
Kyle Leahy and Eduardo Rodríguez both dominated through six-plus scoreless innings, keeping the game locked at 0–0 into the late stages.
Arizona finally broke through in the ninth with a four-run rally highlighted by an RBI double from Nolan Arenado in his return to St. Louis and a two-run single by Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
The Cardinals answered with a three-run push of their own in the bottom half, but Brandyn Garcia struck out JJ Wetherholt with the tying run on base to seal the win and his first career save for Arizona.
