Fire crews from Columbia and Boonville responded to a hazardous materials incident Tuesday afternoon at the Pilot Travel Center off Interstate 70 in Boonville.
Authorities say a semi-truck carrying a tank of chromic acid mixed with hydrofluoric acid developed a slow leak while parked at the truck stop on West Ashley Road.
Hazmat teams in protective suits worked to contain and neutralize the material, and officials say the public is not in danger due to the limited release.
Columbia Fire Department officials said the leak was controlled quickly with containment measures placed under the vehicle.
