Trial Set for Jeff City Man Accused of Double Murder in 2022

A trial has been set for a Jefferson City man accused of murdering two people at a bar in 2022.

39-year-old Damien Davis is charged with First Degree Murder, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. His charges are in connection to the deaths of Skylar Smock and Corey Thames at J. Pfenny’s Bar and Grill in downtown Jefferson City on Nov. 26, 2022.

His five day jury trial will take place in Cole County but with a Platte County jury.

If convicted, he would face the death penalty.
