Bond Denied for Man Charged in Kayla Huff Case
A Randolph County judge denied bond Wednesday for 26-year-old Julian Mason, one of five adults charged in connection with the death of 16-year-old Kayla Huff.
Mason pleaded not guilty to amended charges that include first-degree kidnapping, burglary, property damage, and tampering with evidence. Prosecutors allege Mason helped disable Huff’s vehicle and conceal evidence after the assault.
His attorney argued Mason is not a flight risk and requested bond be set at $25,000, but the state opposed the request, citing public safety concerns and Mason’s criminal history.
His next court appearance is scheduled for August 28.
