Carnival Closure Threatens Cooper County Fair

The Cooper County Fair is scrambling to save its carnival after its ride provider abruptly shut down just one week before the fair begins.

Amusement Associates announced Monday it is ceasing operations immediately, citing soaring insurance and labor costs.

The closure leaves fair organizers searching for a replacement ahead of the July 21st opening.

The Fair Board says it’s exploring every option to keep the carnival running, and there may be hope.

The owner of Amusement Associates reportedly says an Oklahoma-based operator plans to contact the board about taking over the contract.
