A Boone County dog breeder charged with multiple counts of animal abuse is still on track to stand trial this October.
Melissa Sanders faces 13 felony charges and one misdemeanor tied to the alleged mistreatment of dogs at her German shepherd breeding and boarding facility, Magnum Opus German Shepherds.
During a court hearing Monday, a potential new attorney said his firm may take over the case but would likely need more time to review evidence.
Judge Joshua Devine pushed back on delaying the trial, citing a packed court schedule.
No formal request for a postponement has been filed, and Sanders’ current attorney will remain on the case for now.
A pretrial conference is expected in September.
