Boone County to Pause Text-to-911 Next Week
Boone County Joint Communications has announced that the Text-to-911 service will be temporarily unavailable next week at it transitions to a new Next Generation 911 Emergency Services IP Network, saying it will modernize the infrastructure of Boone County and make the network more reliable.
A news release says that the service is expected to be unavailable from August 5, to September 1.
Voice calls will not be affected and will continue to be the primary method for assistance.
If anyone tries to use Text-to-911, they will receive an automatic notification telling them of the temporary interruption and directing them to call the number instead.
