OSHA Investigates Worker Death at Faurot Field Renovations
An electrician working on the University of Missouri’s football stadium renovation project died following an incident in June at the construction site, and now OSHA is investigating.
44-year-old Corey Sooter, who was a foreman for an electrical company on the project, died in June. The incident is under investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The university never publicized the incident. It confirmed Sooter’s death on Monday after inquiries from the Post-Dispatch.
The precise circumstances of Sooter’s death are unclear. The incident is believed to have occurred on June 5, when Columbia Fire Crews were called to the stadium for a “medical response”. OSHA opened its investigation on June 11, the day after Sooter’s death, at 1238 Mick Deaver Drive, another address near the football stadium.
