Downtown Shooting Charges Upgraded
Boone County prosecutors have upgraded a charge against a 20-year-old man accused of firing shots in downtown Columbia earlier this month.
Tavan Williams-Patrick now faces first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful discharge of a firearm and two counts of armed criminal action. He was previously charged with fourth-degree assault.
According to court documents, Williams-Patrick allegedly fired multiple shots near Ninth and Walnut streets around 1 a.m. August ninth, with about 30 people in the area.
Police arrested him at the scene.
He is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in Boone County court at 1pm this afternoon.
