SNAP to See New Requirements Next Month
The Family Support Division of the Missouri Department of Social Services has announced that there will be updates to the requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP on October 1, 2026.
Beginning in October, Missourians using SNAP will need to provide proof of shelter costs, including rent, mortgage, and utilities, as well as childcare expenses and countable resources.
Director of the Family support division Mandi Adams has said that the changes will ensure the accuracy and integrity of the program and make the program more fair.
The change will mostly affect people signing up for SNAP for the first time, SNAP participants who are applying for recertification, and people who are attempting to add a person to their account.
People who currently use SNAP will not have to submit the information until their next recertification.
