Heart of America Marathon Draws 315 Runners

More than 300 runners hit the streets of Columbia Monday for the 67th annual Heart of America Marathon.

The race began at 6 a.m., with runners tackling either the full 26-point-two-mile course individually or competing as part of a relay team.

This year, 315 runners participated.

Columbia’s Caleb Termorshuizen took first place, finishing in 2 hours, 52 minutes and 27 seconds.

Andy Emerson completed his 23rd consecutive Heart of America Marathon, while Moberly Area Community College professor Beth Marchbanks ran despite having multiple sclerosis.

Organizers say the event continues to bring runners together from across the country.
