Centralia Firefighter Returns to Hospital
A longtime Centralia firefighter recovering from a serious fall was taken back to the hospital Wednesday due to dangerously low sodium levels.
Bret Kelly fell 14 feet from scaffolding in September while helping restore a historic church. He suffered multiple serious injuries, including brain bleeds, broken bones and a kidney laceration.
After being hospitalized in Columbia, Kelly recently moved to a rehabilitation facility, where he began walking.
A GoFundMe for his medical expenses and recovery has raised more than $26,000 toward its $40,000 goal.
Kelly has also served with the Boone County Fire Department and Missouri Task Force One.
