A hearing for a Mexico High School Band teacher accused of having inappropriate contact with a student took place in Audrain County Court today.
Judge Wesley Dalton heard testimony from Robert Cortez’s attorney regarding DNA evidence being processed.
According to a probable cause statement, the 17 year old victim reported Cortez touched him inappropriately over his clothes while traveling to Columbia.
The abuse allegedly occurred several times in various places, but not on the property of the Mexico Public Schools.
The judge continued the trial setting to May 1.
