Man and Dog Die In Mexico Fire

One person died in a fire in Mexico just after 3:00 this morning. [Friday]

Mexico Public Safety reports they responded to a fire at 713 East Lafayette, and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the building.

72 year old Alvin Norman and his dog perished in the fire.

The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, but there is no indication of foul play at this time.

The home was a one unit building owned by the Mexico Housing Authority. The front room of the house sustained significant damage, with smoke and heat damage in the rest of the home.

There were working smoke detectors inside the home.
