A judge is deliberating whether or not the Missouri State Board of Education’s decision to fire former commissioner, Margie Vandeven, was done lawfully.
Springfield teacher, Laurie Sullivan, sued the board in November, seeking declaration that the board violated the state’s open meetings and records laws, and a court order prohibiting the board from terminating Vandeven.
Vandeven was dismissed on December 1st after Governor Eric Greitens stacked the board with appointments that would vote for her to be fired.
