Board of Education Work Session

The Mexico Board of Education met to discuss compensation for teachers, staff and administration.

Dr. Zach Templeton presented the board with several different options and how much they will cost the district.

Among the items up for discussion was a different form of pay table that would both increase starting salaries for first year teachers and make the district more competitive to be able to attract and maintain high quality candidates. The current lowest salary for a teacher possessing a bachelor’s degree is $33,300.

No decisions were made during this work session, and the pay schedule could be approved at Tuesday’s regular school board meeting.
