Turkey Harvest Low Statewide

Norman Steelman, Audrain County Conservation Agent, says turkey harvests in the spring season was down across the state.

The Missouri Department of Conservation reports a total of 35,787 turkeys were taken in Missouri.

Audrain County finished in the bottom 15 in the state with 134 turkeys.

Franklin County hunters took the most with 760 total turkey.

Steelman says heavy rains and flooding in May and June the last couple of years has lowered the turkey population, resulting in the smaller harvest.
